Hello Friends, after 24 days of uncertainty today we saw light at the end of the tunnel and I wanted to share the events of my day. When driving to downtown I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the highways were clear and there were checkpoints to keep residents and business owners safe. Then when I arrived at the restaurant, a little before we opened, we received a visit from two OPP officers who were checking in with business owners. This assured my staff and improved the overall mindset of our staff. Then later into lunchtime, the Minister Bill Blair and MP, Yasir Naqvi came by to show their support and hear our frustrations about the protests. I felt I was able to productively express the concerns shared by many business owners and how our business has been greatly impacted as a result of our customers not feeling safe. I believe we are starting to see a positive trend of making downtown safer and restoring its vibrancy.
I also wanted to highlight the amazing community support we have received. We had a family who took the LRT from the Westend to dine at our restaurant to show their support and for that I am eternally grateful. They are one of the many people who have reached out and provided as much support as they can during this trying time.
